Eczema is a skin disease that mostly starts before the age of five. It is a lifelong disease that tends to slow down in adult life.

Eczema is not related to food allergies.

Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis) is a skin disease that mostly starts before the age of five. It is a lifelong disease that tends to slow down in adult life. It's related to asthma and hay fever and caused by a combination of genetics and environmental factors. Eczema is not related to food allergies.


Although Eczema manifests mostly in the creases of the elbow, the knee and nape of the neck the changes in the skin layers are uniform all over the body.

The main symptoms are: itchy skin, scaling and very dry skin.

Treatment is focused on preventing the spread of the infection, mostly due to scratching, by reducing and controlling the itch. Always use a moisturizer without fragrance to reduce irritation. Use a moisturizer that provides hydration and reduces water loss in the upper skin layer. Use a fragrance free sunscreen to protect the skin from UVA and UVB exposure.
